One week away from Day of Remembrance!

We are finishing the final details before our first public performance at the Day of Remembrance (DoR) 2018 Taiko Fundraiser for the Minidoka Pilgrimmage.

Most of our members have played for this annual fundraiser concert in the past as a part of Taiko Kai at the University of Washington; however, this will be our first time as a new group.

25592025_1607843095939548_1002661257933579970_nBack in October 2017 during our first meeting, we decided on making our “debut” performance at Day of Remembrance due to it being the annual opportunity for a majority of Pacific Northwest taiko groups performing on the same stage. Taiko groups do manage to perform at many community festivals such as Natsu Matsuri or Seattle Obon, however the performances are spaced apart that it makes it difficult to meet and watch other groups.

In addition, Day of Remembrance is an opportunity that our mutual love for taiko and Japanese culture can be used as a charitable good for youth and elderly scholarships to visit Minidoka – one of the internment camps for Japanese and Japanese-Americans during World War II. Tickets and more information can be found here.

Being able to showcase a new generation of taiko in the region is an honor and we are absolutely excited to show you our new songs that have never been heard in the area. Stay tuned for photos and video.
